before and after school workshops

Not only does my 7 year old daughter worry less now, but she actually sings on the way to her ‘Resilience in Kids’ classes as she enjoys them so much. I am so grateful to the team for helping her better navigate friendships and the schoolyard in a healthy and positive way

We run before and after school workshops for children in years K-6. The purpose of the workshops is to give children a toolkit of life skills that will help them become more resilient. The workshops run for an hour and take place weekly. There are typically 6-10 children in each group and we break the workshops up into years K-3 and 3-6.

The workshops are for children experiencing everyday challenges, such as making good friendship choices, managing their emotions and learning that it is OK to make mistakes.

Our workshops are play-based and include a range of fun activities, including games, art, drama, music, movement, breathing and storytelling.

Through our workshops we develop the behaviours detailed in our Resilience Framework: I am self-confident, I believe I can grow, I can solve problems, I can show empathy, I can keep going when things are tough, I am optimistic, I am self-aware and I can handle my emotions.

We also help the children respond to specific challenges, including those relating to friendship (Term 1), self-worth (Term 2), fear (Term 3) and big emotions, worry and stress (Term 4).

We create a safe and confidential space for children where they can express their emotions and talk about what is going on for them, and it is a beautiful process to watch the children open up and learn that they are not alone in their experience.

They build strong relationships with each other and their coach over the course of a term and many return to us term after term.

HOLIDAY WORKSHOPS

Simply fantastic! Big thanks to Erin. My son had a superb day.

We run 1-day 'Resilience Camps' for children in years K-6 in the school holidays. Like our before and after school workshops, the purpose of our camps is to give children a toolkit of life skills that will help them become more resilient. The workshops last a day each and are for children experiencing everyday challenges, such as making good friendship choices, managing their emotions and learning that it is OK to make mistakes. Our workshops are play-based and include a range of fun activities, including games, art, drama, music, movement, breathing and storytelling.

Through our holiday workshops we develop some of the behaviours detailed in our Resilience Framework: I am self-confident, I believe I can grow, I can solve problems, I can show empathy, I can keep going when things are tough, I am optimistic, I am self-aware and I can handle my emotions. We also hone in on particular challenges that children might be facing and give them specific skills and coping strategies to handle these. For example, we might help children make good friendship choices or learn how to calm themselves down when experiencing uncomfortable emotions.

Children don't have to have attended our term-time workshops or 1-1 coaching to benefit from our holiday camps, but equally if they have attended these they will enjoy the opportunity to top up their skills through new and fresh games and activities.

There are typically 16 children in our Whoosh Club workshops. To manage the larger group size, our Resilience Coach has extra help and uses this to run breakout activities for the different age groups, thereby ensuring that whether your child is in Kindergarten or year 6 they benefit as much as possible from what we are teaching. There are typically 12 children in our Maker's Loft workshops and these workshops have a much stronger art and craft focus.

1-1 child coaching

I am very grateful to Natalie for her most professional approach in helping my 7 year old son increase his confidence in building friendships at school. The one-on-one sessions provide an excellent platform for customised coaching. Whilst my son was initially sceptical towards the benefits of these sessions, Natalie managed to completely turn him around and now he doesn’t wish for the sessions to end. Thank you so much Natalie for your support and we look forward to future sessions.

We offer 1-1 coaching for children in years K-6. The aim of the coaching is to give children skills and coping strategies to build their resilience.

We offer the same content that is offered in our workshops but adjust this so it can be delivered 1-1. We also adjust this to account for each child's unique context and experience. It is important to note, however, that this is not a tailored, individualised experience such as therapy or counselling.

1-1 coaching suits children who are unable to attend our workshops, who do not respond well to group work or who maybe want to delve a bit deeper into a topic. There are 4 sessions lasting 1 hour each and the coaching takes place face to face in the comfort of your own home.

parent coaching

We offer coaching to parents where we teach them how to become their child's "Resilience Coach".  This is available in small groups, or 1-1.

Our small group coaching is relaxed, informative and interactive and consists of 4, 90-minute evening sessions that take place across 4 weeks in a local cafe. We create a warm and inviting "home away from home" atmosphere where we explore this important topic in depth.

Our workshop content is underpinned by the latest scientific research into resilience, but there are no motherhood statements or scientific jargon - just a practical toolkit of strategies to apply.

Our 1-1 coaching consists of 4, 60-minute sessions and takes place in the comfort of your own home. We offer the same content that is offered in our workshops but adjust this so it can be delivered 1-1. We also adjust this to account for each family's unique context and experience. It is important to note, however that this is not a tailored, individualised experience such as therapy or counselling.

PARENT EVENTS

We run informative and interactive evening events for parents. These range in length from 1-2 hours and can cover a range of topics relating to the process of building resilience in children.

We are flexible and will happily tailor an event to meet each group's unique needs. We can run events that briefly touch on all of the components of a 'Parent Resilience Coach', or we can focus in depth on a particular topic, such as anxiety, independence, friendship, perfectionism or making mistakes.

We can run events for smaller, more intimate groups, or larger groups and can run these onsite at schools, other local community venues or larger business venues.
